Known Issues & Watch Points

Bore scoring resolved

Watch

The 9A2 turbo engine largely resolved the bore scoring issues of the 9A1. However, turbocharged engines are more sensitive to oil quality and change intervals. Using the correct specification oil and sticking to annual changes is especially important.

Turbo wastegate rattle

Watch

A cold-start rattling noise is common on early 991.2 cars — caused by worn wastegate actuator bushes. Often more of an annoyance than a reliability concern, but worth monitoring and replacing if it worsens.

PCM software updates

Watch

Several software updates were issued during 991.2 production to address throttle response, PDK shift behaviour, and Sport Chrono calibration. Confirm update status with a Porsche dealer.

Intervals are general guidance. Always refer to your car's Maintenance Booklet and consult a qualified Porsche specialist. Known issues are documented based on commonly reported patterns — not every car will be affected.
